Keeping Your Head Up

Artist Tip of the Day: Never forget to take care of yourself, and remember what it is that makes you want to do art in the first place. Surround yourself constantly with those people that inspire you, that make you want to succeed, and don't hold you back.

Man, this month has been a roller coaster of emotions. If there's anything I've learned from all this, it's to always remember to take care of yourself. For my case, this month was very much influenced by those who are extremely dear to me who were going through a rough time. Lots of conversations, struggles, late night calls, and more so were done the entire month, and though reassuring to know I was doing a good deed it was mentally exhausting. Remember that loved ones, no matter how close they are to you, aren't living your life. It's important to take care of yourself. I lost quite a bit of time that could have been dedicated elsewhere that would have benefited me for the long run. Do I blame those I was helping? No, because in reality if I were so much more concerned about my future I would have cut them out completely. The lesson here is it's good to care and show your support, but don't forget to take care of yourself. Support in moderation, and take responsibility for your actions. I'm still learning, but I figure it's good to share learning experiences and seek out advise when most needed (though remembering to make the final decisions for yourself).

In other news, there's 3 weeks left till the semester is over. I don't have much exciting news besides as my sister is graciously helping me figure out plans for the summer and so forth, but I am very proud and excited for my best friend who has many good things happening. Keep us all in your prayers.

Now if you all have the time, I highly recommend you listen to this video of Paul Klein. Listen while you're painting; certainly helps me get inspired. :)
